Oh how I'm changing

Well my daddy left for Afghanistan only 10 days ago but I sure do miss him already. And I can imagine he is missing me and how much I've changed in this short time. Not only does it seem like I've grown a lot already (I sure have a healthy appetite), but it seems like I'm doing something new everyday. In just the past week I have started smiling a lot more and I even coo back when you talk to me. I'm trying to talk and someday I really will be able to.

Also this week I've been playing a lot more on the funky farmyard my cousins Steven and Jacob gave me because it is so much fun! I thrash my arms and kick so happily when I'm on it. I'm having a great time. Someday soon I'll be able to grab those toy animals.

My grandma Sandi has been over nearly everyday to visit since daddy left (and sometimes to take care of me so mommy can run errands). The other day she put me in my playpen for a few minutes and when she came back the room I had flipped from my belly to my back. Mommy didn't believe grandma when she told her but I proved it to her and did it again... and again. And another thing mommy may not believe is that I'm sleeping better~ it may not seem like it sometimes, but I really am! So you can see, I'm changing fast. Mommy has been taking lots of pictures, videotaping me (and we now have a webcam), so even though daddy can't be here now, at least we have those luxuries. I will still be happier once he's home. I know mommy will be too.

Roadtrips ~ Volume One

Roadtrips ~ Volume one

My grandpa Gary jokes that I've been more places in my young life than most people. This is not entirely true... yet. I have taken several mini road trips in my first 6 weeks of life. My parents have always loved to travel (my daddy has been all over the world!) I think they are trying to prep me for the week long roadtrip we'll be taking with grandma Sandi and grandpa Gary this summer.
As you know, I spent my first week of life staying in the hospital with mom, but when we got out, my grandpa Al was here from Ohio and daddy wanted to show him some sights. So my very first roadtrip was when I was 10 days old (I think daddy wouldv'e taken me on day one if he could've). We went up to Mt. Lemmon. There was some snow up there, so they dressed me warm in my camouflage fleece outfit. I looked so macho!
I must say I did fairly well for a new baby. I slept the whole time!

The following week my grandma Patty, grandpa Kim and sister Alysha came from Ohio to see me. With them I went to Biosphere. I was a little crankier that day and about halfway through our visit, daddy had to take me back to the Jeep to feed me. He also realized changing a diaper in the backseat is not so fun either... apparently that day I "dominated" the diaper as he phrases it. I still wasn't happy after the new diaper so daddy had to drive me around while everyone else finished their tour. I guess I really do prefer being on the road.

I've done a few other small trips~ Tubac, Madera Canyon, Sabino Canyon and of course, the day mom and dad decided to be spontaneous and just hop in the Jeep and drive (we ended up in Willcox). I guess you could say I'm getting acquainted with southern Az (my daddy even ran over a rattlesnake with my stroller one day at Sabino Canyon!)

There will be a little hiatus in my adventures as daddy is out of the country until June but I'm looking forward to the future big roadtrip. Roadtrips ~ Volume Two coming this summer! Stay tuned.

Hello world !!!!

Hello world! My name is Aiden Michael Larson. My grandma Sandi had this great idea about doing a blog so I can keep everyone updated on my life.
This is my first official post (but I am nearly 7 weeks old already), so let me backtrack a little...
I was born at Tucson Medical Center on December 30, 2009. Mommy had medical issues throughout the pregnancy so the doctors planned my arrival date. She checked into the hospital and they induced labor. I tried to cooperate, but after several hours I decided I really didn't like the way those contractions felt afterall... they made my heart rate drop! The docs were getting nervous so they took mommy to surgery and at 5:04 am I was born.
Did you know they make you take tests as soon as you're born? That very first test assesses well-being and my score was low, only a 2 of 10. (I was a little slow to take that first breath on my own and my left arm was grey from lack of oxygen.) I apparently scared the dickens out of my mom and dad because I was so quiet. But... I was quick to turn it around and I am here healthy and happy :)
Daddy cut my umbilical cord and then they took me back to the original room we checked into. Mommy stayed behind in the operating room for a little bit but Daddy was with me the whole time. Grandma and Grandpa Bonesteel arrived about the time mommy was wheeled back in. Teresa even came to visit. Soon after, they took me to the nursery and Daddy videotaped my first bath. Apparently I wasn't a happy camper, but all was better once I could be with Mommy again. Daddy was in and out... he was trying to take care of things at home too because my Grandpa Larson from Ohio was coming in a few days. We had lots of visitors over the next few days and we spent New Years Eve in the hospital (Daddy was even videotaping us and I started screaming during the Ball drop... Happy New Year!)
Mommy and I were supposed to go home on January 2nd but she had some complications to the C-section. She was in a lot of pain and very sad she couldn't go home. Even though she was bummed, I was content... they let me stay with her. And I got lots of attention and all the nurses were very nice. We were finally able to go home the night of January 6th. I love my home... much more comfortable than the hospital.
