Man am I pooped. Today I had my first ever CT scan. When I was first born they told my mommy that I had a large soft spot on the back of my head. My mommy was also born with a large soft spot so she wasn't too worried.
Well, last week I went for my 4 month check-up and the doctor wants a CT just to be sure. He says I have a bit of flattening in the back... hopefully it's just because I prefer laying on my back (I'm not a fan of tummy time) in addition to it already looking a little funny from the large soft spot but the scan will give the docs a better view.
My test was scheduled in the afternoon but I wasn't allowed to eat anything since the morning. They told my mommy to bring me sleep deprived and hungry in hopes that they could get me to fall asleep and do the test while I napped. They must not remember what it's like to be a 4 1/2 month old baby... hungry and tired is only a good combination if you plan on feeding me so I can sleep! Anyway, the radiology department was having a very late start to my test. I tried to be patient but 5 hours without milk for this growing boy is tough! They put me in a dark room with a rocking chair... mommy and grandma took turns rocking me trying to get me to sleep but all that was on my mind was milk! I tried to let everyone know and I cried for 45 minutes straight. Mommy felt bad but rules are rules... I wasn't allowed to have milk because if they needed to sedate me for the test and I had eaten I could've possibly aspirated it. Well, I did end up eventually crying myself to sleep but they still weren't ready to start the test. I take what mommy likes to call "power naps"~ 20 minutes usually ~ so I was wide awake again before we could start. I decided not to cry after my nap and the nurse agreed I needed a little sedation. I was a big boy and waited for my sleepy meds. They eventually gave me the medicine and I had a nice nap while they did my test. When I woke up, the nurse gave me unflavored Pedialyte. I guzzled it so fast! I didn't care that there was not flavor. At this point I hadn't eaten in over 7 hours and I was famished! I often sleep 7 or more hours during the night and don't need to eat then but it's different when I'm wide awake during the day!
Here's my grandma holding me when I was finally getting sleepy. They had a pulse
oximeter on my foot to monitor me
So as you can see, I had an exhausting day. I hope everything turns out fine and I don't need to go through that again! Goodnight all. I have some sleep to catch up on.
P.S. Before I was born people would joke that I would probably get daddy's head (his nickname is Buckethead) but there is no question I got my mommy's.
